Chapter 6: The Tengu Company

And so Jamal began to teach Sketch the ways of using and building up his powers, and he practiced using his powers to create electric shocks and weak thunder bolts. After two hours of practice, they decided to call it a day. It was evening time, and Sketch was at Jamal's house.

"Thanks for giving me these abilities, Jamal," said Sketch. "I never felt this excited before!"

"I'm glad you want to help. Let me tell you that fighting Russell will not be easy, for he exercises his power all the time. You will need to build yourself up much more if you wish to gain the advantage."

"I'll try."

They were silent for a moment. Sketch was in deep thought, and he began to sniffle. Jamal looked at him in concern.

"What's the matter, Sketch?"

"I just thought of something. How am I gonna make a living for myself? I've already been fired from my job, and I've tried practically every other job that exists in the town! What do I do now?"

Jamal thought for a moment. "Why not become an entrepreneur?"

Sketch was confused. "A what?"

"Start your own business! Do what you like to do for a profit!"

Sketch shrugged. "But I don't do much…I just like to tinker with machines and technology."

"There you are, then," said Jamal. "Why not try to invent some new machines and enter the market competition with other technological equipment?"

"Because I don't know how to do that. I don't have that much money myself…I only have about five grand."

"Five grand what?"

Sketch looked at Jamal oddly. "That means five thousand dollars."

"Oh, I see." Jamal nodded. "You needn't worry about that, Sketch. I give you whatever materials you need."

"How will you do that, Jamal?" Sketch asked.

"Very simple. I can create any form of matter with my own powers."

Sketch was surprised. "You're kidding. What's your power?"

"I'm the Stellar Tengu," said Jamal. "I can control the powers of matter and space. I also found that I have gained access to an empty dimension, and I'm planning on making a planet of my own."

"No way…"

"It's true! I'm calling it the 'Otherworld.'"

"Wow! So you could make a factory and all the materials we need?"

Jamal smiled and nodded.

"All right! That can really help! Thanks!"

"No problem, Sketch." Jamal thought for a moment. "You know, you may want to make advertisements for jobs at the factory once we get it all set up."

"You're right. This kind of thing isn't a two-man job. What positions should we make ads for?"

"Well, you said you didn't know much about building machines. Why not ask for people who do?"

Sketch smiled and blushed. "Yeah, I guess that's a logical thing to do." He thought for a moment. "We could use some designers, too."

Jamal nodded. "Sure. How can you build something when you don't know how it should be built?"

Sketch nodded. He took out a scrap piece of paper and wrote the information down. "Wow! This'll be great! I'll bet our company will be the most successful in town! Say, what should we call this business?"

Jamal shrugged. "You're the boss."

"Me?! Well, uh…hmm…" Sketch pondered possible names. "How about the Tengu Company?"

Jamal smiled. "It would seem fitting considering who's making these things."

Sketch smiled. "All right! The 'Tengu Company' it is, then!"

"Okay! We'll begin submitting advertisements tomorrow morning!"

"I suppose I'd better start printing a few up. I'll go do that right now! Thank you for all your help, Jamal!" With that, Sketch got up and headed to the door. Before he left for home, however, he looked at Jamal in question. "Say…how do you know all this stuff when you're not even a year old?"

Jamal grinned. "Sensei Kazano was a good teacher."
